WHAT: Campus-Based Disaster Preparedness Training

We are proud to announce the first ever Campus-Based Disaster Preparedness training which will be given by the most recognized person in the field Dr. Teofredo 'Ted' T. Esguerra, The event is organized bu the DOMT.Cs in cooperation with the Medical Department and Civil Welfare Training Service Department of Polytechnic University of the Philippines Quezon City Campus.

   He is once one of the hosts of the new TV program of UNTV titled QUICK ACTION TEAM (Q.U.A.T.), which deals on the issues of life saving, disaster management, safety and rescue.He is a certified American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor for the Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Consultant of the TAO Corporation Emergency Operations Center; the Medical Officer of the International Tribal Games; the Wilderness Doctor of the The North Face (TNF) international marathon events; the Medical Control for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) composite teams for the Guinness World Record marathon for the Pasig River; Head of the composite EMS teams of the Quezon City International Marathon (QCIM); and over-all Medical Control of the CamSur International Ironman 2011.He is also a senior instructor on Technical Rescue, Advanced Life Support, Wilderness Rescue, Mountain Medicine, Mass Casualty Incident Management, and Tactical Medicine for the International Emergency Response Training Academy (IERTA); for the Coast Guard; for the Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician Course of Bright Center; and for some of the rescue organizations and communities around Southeast Asia.

     Over a thousand of organizations in different countries, Philippines has twenty four (24) society that had been officially registered in the wiki team list organizations from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao regions.  Each year they are celebrating the International event which is the Software Freedom Day at exactly September 15.



      The DOMT.Cs from PUPQC was one of it and they stepped away last September 29, 2012, to take part in a groundbreaking event which entitled “Software Freedom Day 2012, FOSS in Education".  It was their Second year celebration of the international event.  It was held at PUPQC covered court, it devours an almost 300 spectators.  It was sponsored by Mozilla Philippines, Quezon City Office, Convergys and ICAS Phils.  Apparently, they celebrated the event at September 29 because September 15 the class had been suspended due to heavy typhoon.

     The event was celebrated through discourses and breakout sessions, with the subsequent topics on Ubuntu Operating System, Web Browsing using Mozilla Firefox, FOSS Programming Software’s, Google Applications and FOSS in Schools Today.  The orators were Mr. Melchor Q. Compendio from Mozilla Philippines, Mr. Efren D. Montales Jr. from Ubuntu Philippines, Mr. Gener Luis Morada from Ascent Network Solutions Inc., Mr. Jeffereson A. Costales   from Mary the Queen College of Pampanga & an IBM certified programmer, and Mr. Roque S. Morales from Institute of Comparative & Advanced Studies.
The audiences were clustered into 5 groups for them to easily comprehend with the topics and to ensure a further interaction with the speakers.  Every presenter has 20 – 30 minutes to deliberate their topics and gladly they consume their time appropriately.  After the gatherings, the organizers gave appreciations to the participants as well as to the speakers.
